Our customer had been working with their existing supplier base for two years with very limited success on building a new, one piece F-16 Targeting System Shroud Housing. This was a very difficult assembly requiring the latest 5-axis machining, tooling and programming technology, combined with out-of-the-box thinking and a can-do attitude.

Metalex took on the challenge as a four month, 24/7 project supported by our customer with the understanding that success was the only option.

After receiving the first solid titanium forgings, Metalex delivered the first (5) shrouds within four months, exceeding expectations. Our customer won the production contract and we continued successful production of the shrouds at a rate of six per month until a total of 90 units were delivered meeting all customer requirements.
