They serve as a knowledge center to manufacturing and programming, not only for problem solving but also for standardization of tools, and for implementation of improvements in material cutting technology working closely with the best cutting tool manufactures in our industry.

Metalex’ high performance tool and Cutter Grinding area uses state-of-the-art CNC equipment to manufacture special cutters in support of daily operations. The skilled staff in this center makes whatever the programmer or high tech team conceives. Working together, the machinists and technical support team use out of the box thinking to design and quickly produce a variety of unique tools for our most difficult cutting applications on a daily basis.

The tool crib and tool setting center supports Metalex’ total tooling requirements and tracks costs of tooling by operation and job number. Additionally, the tool crib facilitates evaluation and improvements in cutting tools or new technologies and coordinates programs where manufacturers of tooling teach Metalex craftsmen how to use the new technologies, such as Tool Data Management software, which Metalex is in the process of implementing.
